Discussions on cooperation between the Union of Charitable Societies and the "My Health in My School" initiative

The Union of Charitable Societies met with the "My Health in My School" initiative on Monday to discuss avenues for joint cooperation in supporting and enhancing school health, with the aim of positively impacting students and the local community.

During the meeting, which was also attended by the head of the Amman Union, Dr. Barakat Barakat, and several other stakeholders, Union President Amer Khawaldeh emphasized the importance of this national initiative. He noted that the Union places great importance on initiatives that target students' health and quality of life, stemming from its social and humanitarian role in supporting vital sectors, particularly education and health.

The meeting included a comprehensive review of the vision and objectives of the "My Health in My School" initiative, which is based on the Royal vision aimed at improving quality of life and public health, instilling values of awareness and social responsibility, and recognizing the national role of schools in building capable Jordanian citizens who can grow, innovate, and excel.

The initiative's Higher Committee explained that it is launched with the support of the Ministries of Education and Health, in partnership with the Health and Food Committee of the House of Representatives, and organized by the Rawnak Al Jamal Production Foundation. It is also being implemented in cooperation with dozens of volunteer doctors from various specialties and a number of prestigious medical and health institutions.

The Committee indicated that the initiative is a comprehensive national framework for school health in all public and private schools across the Kingdom, in all governorates without exception. It emphasized that it is a non-profit initiative stemming from its national responsibility to raise health awareness and create a sustainable societal impact based on prevention, early detection, and psychological and educational support.

The initiative is based on implementing integrated programs within schools. These programs include health, nutrition, and behavioral awareness programs, as well as mental health and psychosocial support programs, and early detection of common student diseases and health problems. This is achieved through comprehensive free medical days held in schools, training workshops for educational staff on how to deal with health issues within the school environment, and environmental and behavioral activities aimed at providing a safe, healthy, and exemplary learning environment.

The initiative also seeks to adopt the "Jordanian Model Healthy School Award" as a comprehensive national standard, with its criteria being gradually implemented in schools across the Kingdom. This will create a competitive model that motivates schools to excel in school health, aligning with global best practices and positively impacting the quality of education, public health, and student behavior.

The meeting concluded by emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the Union of Charitable Societies and the "My Health in My School" initiative, serving students and the community and contributing to the achievement of national goals in health and education.
