Statement of the General Union of Charitable Societies on the International Volunteer Day

The General Union of Charitable Societies confirmed that volunteers have been a fundamental pillar for many countries over the years in order to achieve the Millennium Development Goals set for combating poverty, hunger, disease and illiteracy.

The General Union indicated in a statement today on the occasion of the International Volunteer Day that celebrating this day comes to shed light on the importance of volunteer work and enhance the community role in building a better future for generations.

The head of the temporary administrative body of the General Union, Nasser Al-Shraideh, said that volunteer work has several manifestations and manifestations that reflect the spirit of solidarity, support and assistance and include in some of its aspects saving lives during disasters and crises, planning, feeding and sheltering, and it is considered the beating heart of the spirit of humanity in any country and any society.

He stressed the importance of this day in which we emphasize the efforts made by Jordan, led by His Majesty the King, to extend a helping hand and assistance through volunteers and various institutions to our people and brothers in Gaza and Palestine in light of what they are experiencing as a result of the brutal Zionist aggression.

He stressed that the General Federation focuses on volunteer and humanitarian work, believing in its social responsibility towards highlighting the efforts of workers in this field and serving the nation, pointing out the importance of the efforts of workers in the humanitarian field in saving lives, alleviating suffering and preserving human dignity.

He pointed out that the role of volunteers has become more important in light of the challenges facing the world, such as climate change, conflicts and poverty, as volunteers contribute to providing innovative and sustainable solutions that contribute to achieving the goals of sustainable development and building a better future.

He called for the importance of enhancing efforts to consolidate the importance of volunteering and humanity, which is considered part of the customs, traditions and ethics of societies in the world.
