Today, in the Zein Park Hall of the Greater Jerash Municipality, the Nashmiya Charitable Association for Women and Child Development celebrated the conclusion of the project 'From Need to Production', which was implemented by the Association with the support of the General Union of Charitable Societies.
The head of the General Union of Charitable Societies, Dr. Atef Adibat, who sponsored the ceremony’s activities, said that the Union is a national institution and works within the royal directives for the empowerment of women and is one of the oldest state institutions and is the unofficial arm of the Jordanian state in the field of charitable work, indicating that the Union, since its establishment, has provided distinguished models in this regard. The areas include the King Hussein Cancer Center, Islamic funeral homes, and Al Amal Centers for Special Education, in addition to his contributions to implementing specific projects in the field of reproductive health and alleviating poverty and unemployment.
He pointed out that the General Union, thanks to the efforts it is making, there is continuous and increasing support for the Union from the Ministry of Social Development due to the Ministry’s conviction of the importance of the Union’s role as a result of its diligent work in achieving its mission and goals to develop charitable, volunteer and humanitarian work, indicating that, with the efforts of all members of the administrative body, the Union has been restored to its correct path. Support was provided to unions in the governorates in amounts amounting to half a million dinars to support unions and associations in serving their local communities.
He said that the Union worked to support a number of associations with specific projects in accordance with the principles and instructions distributed to various parts of the country, which contributed to providing job opportunities, indicating that the Production Need Project is one of these projects that the Union supported in order to implement its goals in empowering women, as it provided 30 opportunities. a job.
He stated that there is a project in development to classify associations so that support goes to effective and active associations, indicating that the Union will, in the next stage, work to launch the Jordanian Charitable Fund to parallel its work to the National Aid Fund.
The head of the Associations Department in the Directorate of Social Development in Jerash Governorate, Murad Al-Qaaymeh, said that the Ministry of Social Development is working within the strategy it recently launched to raise the level of women’s economic participation, provide job opportunities for females, achieve actual participation for them in the labor market, and create real networking opportunities with local and global partners to improve the economic level of women. .
He appreciated the efforts of the General Union of Charitable Societies to serve communities and support women and associations to advance the many achievements and the role of the association to continue the process of volunteer work and was able to put it on the success map in a record period to advance volunteer work.
The association's president, Afaf Nizami, indicated that the project, which comes with funding from the General Union, targeted thirty families of widows, orphans, and poor families to empower them economically and enhance their civic participation in raising the economic and living standards of their families.
Al-Nizami indicated that the Nashmiya Association will be in contact with everyone who wants to join this project without any compensation, praising the support of the General Federation of Associations to play its role in serving their local communities.
In her speech to the participants, Orouba Mahasneh expressed how happy they were to participate in this project, which contributed to developing their abilities and experiences in a way that would benefit them and their families, extending her thanks to the General Union for providing them with the opportunity to enhance their role in society.
At the end of the ceremony, which was attended by the Vice President of the General Union, Ayyash Krishan, the Director General of the Union and the Lottery, Khalil Al Qubaisi, the Director of Projects in the Union, Shatha Qutaishat, and a number of media representatives, Dr. Adibat and the President of the Association, Nizami, distributed certificates to the participants in the project and the trainers in the field of hemming shemaghs and handicrafts in making baskets and straw baskets. Adibat also reviewed the association’s products.
