General Union of Charitable Societies: Empowering women is a cornerstone for promoting community development

 

The General Union of Charitable Societies affirmed that Jordanian women have been and remain essential partners in the nation's development and a vital pillar of charitable, social, and humanitarian work across Jordan.

In a statement issued Sunday on the occasion of International Women's Day, the Union highlighted the significant role women play in charitable and developmental work, praising their substantial contributions to serving the community and supporting the most vulnerable groups. The Union stressed the need to continue supporting and empowering women to enhance their participation in various fields of sustainable development.

The Union's President, Amer Khawaldeh, stated that this international occasion provides an opportunity to reaffirm appreciation for the vital role women play in society, both within the family and in the fields of volunteer and social work. He noted that many charitable societies in Jordan are led by women who have demonstrated their competence in managing developmental and humanitarian initiatives and serving the most vulnerable segments of society.

He added that the Union places special emphasis on empowering women and enhancing their participation in community work by supporting women's initiatives and providing training programs that contribute to building women's capacities and encouraging small productive projects that strengthen their economic independence and open broader horizons for their participation in development.

He explained that Jordanian women have played a prominent role in charitable and volunteer work for decades, and that they are always at the forefront of humanitarian initiatives aimed at supporting impoverished families, empowering youth and women, and contributing to strengthening the values ​​of solidarity and social cohesion in society.

He pointed out that the Union works in cooperation with charitable organizations spread across various governorates to develop programs that enhance the role of women in community development, especially in rural and desert areas, by supporting productive and training projects that contribute to improving family income levels and empowering women economically and socially.

Al-Khawaldeh stressed that empowering women is not just a slogan, but a real approach to work that the Union seeks to establish through partnerships with official and civil institutions, which enhances the presence of women in various fields of development and charitable work and reinforces their role as an essential partner in building a cohesive and prosperous society, extending greetings to every inspiring woman who continued the journey of giving and development to create hope and enhance her role in voluntary, charitable and community work.
