Union of Charitable Societies: Caring for the elderly is a collective responsibility

 

On the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, which fell yesterday, the General Union of Charitable Societies affirmed its commitment to continuing efforts to care for the elderly and provide them with services that ensure a dignified and safe life.

In a statement on Thursday, Union President Amer Al-Khawaldeh said that the humanitarian initiatives and continuous care provided by His Majesty King Abdullah II for this group embody a solid approach to promoting social solidarity and constitute a model to be emulated in supporting charitable efforts across the country.

He added that caring for the elderly is a collective responsibility that requires concerted official, civil, and societal efforts. He noted that charitable societies in various governorates are continuously working to launch programs and initiatives that meet the needs of the elderly and support their integration into public life.

Al-Khawaldeh called for instilling a culture of giving back and loyalty to this segment by promoting volunteer work and expanding partnerships between charitable societies, state institutions, and the private sector, ensuring sustainable and comprehensive services for the elderly.

He commended the efforts made by associations and volunteers across the region through organizing recreational and educational activities and field visits that enhance the elderly's sense of care and appreciation. He called on young people in particular to engage in these initiatives, given their positive impact in promoting the values ​​of solidarity and compassion.
