On the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, which fell yesterday, Tuesday, the General Union of Charitable Societies affirmed its pride in the humanitarian efforts of workers and volunteers across the Kingdom, in appreciation of their role in serving the most needy and promoting the values of solidarity and social cohesion, of which Jordan is proud.
According to a statement issued by the Union on Wednesday, President of the General Union, Amer Al-Khawaldeh, said that this day represents a milestone to emphasize the importance of continuing humanitarian efforts, especially in light of the economic and social challenges facing society. He explained that charitable societies remain the first line of defense in supporting needy families, empowering women and youth, and supporting purposeful community initiatives.
He explained that the Union, through its network of associations spread across all governorates of the Kingdom, will continue to work to expand the scope of its relief and development programs and strengthen partnerships with national and international institutions to build a more cohesive and just society.
He called for supporting and empowering all volunteers and humanitarian workers so they can continue to fulfill their noble mission and instill the culture of humanitarian work as a deeply rooted value in Jordanian society.
The Ghosoun Association for Culture and Arts, in cooperation with the Zarqa Culture Directorate, organized a dialogue meeting last night at the King Abdullah II Cultural Center to celebrate World Humanitarian Day.
During the meeting, Abdul Rahim Al-Zawahreh, Director General of the All Jordan Youth Commission, stated that the commission plays a pivotal role in supporting humanitarian and volunteer initiatives. He noted that these efforts enhance the spirit of community participation among young people and instill values of loyalty and belonging to the nation.
The meeting addressed the role of cultural and youth institutions in spreading the culture of volunteering and the importance of activating community partnerships to expand the impact of humanitarian initiatives.
The participants emphasized that commemorating World Humanitarian Day represents a platform for renewing commitment to the authentic humanitarian values that distinguish Jordanians and fostering a spirit of giving and sacrifice that serves society and the nation.
