A joint meeting was held between His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Al-Hawamdeh, the Regional Representative for the Middle East of the African-Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO), and His Excellency Mr. Maan Al-Shamaileh, Secretary General of the General Union of Charitable Societies, representing the President of the General Union of Charitable Societies.

The following points were discussed during the meeting:

• His Excellency the Regional Representative gave a comprehensive presentation on the African-Asian Rural Development Organization, including a historical overview of the organization, its main objectives, areas of intervention, and programs and projects in member states, with a focus on the role of the Regional Office in supporting and promoting sustainable rural development in the Middle East.

• His Excellency the Secretary General of the General Union of Charitable Societies, representing the President of the General Union, presented a detailed overview of the General Union, its most prominent achievements, its development and social programs, and its role in coordinating the efforts of charitable societies at the national level.

• An extensive discussion took place on points of common interest, with both parties emphasizing the importance of joint work in the areas of empowering rural communities, developing the capacities of civil society organizations, studying support for small projects, and enhancing food security. A promise was made to visit the General Union to discuss ways of cooperation between us and any matters that serve voluntary charitable work in the General Union of Charitable Societies.
