Today, the Chairman and a number of members of the Labor and Social Development Committee in the Senate, headed by Al-Ain Issa Murad, visited the headquarters of the General Union of Charitable Societies, where they met with the Union’s Board of Directors with the aim of learning about the reality of charitable work and the achievements that the Union has achieved through its volunteer career and discussing the challenges facing its work.
The President of the General Union of Charitable Societies, Dr. Atef Udaybat, reviewed the achievements made by the General Union since its founding in 1959 and its contribution to providing great services to the nation by providing aid to the poor and needy, establishing activities and programs related to volunteer and charitable work, and implementing workshops and training courses to advance the work of the unions. And associations in the center of Amman and the governorates.
He stated that the administrative body of the Union was keen to take reform and administrative steps in the Union to address the imbalances that existed previously and advance the work of the Union to serve the public interest, reconsider the charitable lottery, and network with various institutions to manage its resources and achieve development projects that enhance the values of volunteer work.
He pointed out that the Federation is keen to diversify its sources of income and develop the charitable lottery to achieve a good financial return for the Federation, especially since its main goal is to be a supportive arm for the government’s efforts in the field of helping poor and needy groups.
He called for the importance of institutionalizing the union and applying governance to organize the union’s work and defining the powers of the administrative body with the aim of organizing administrative and financial work and reducing abuses.
He pointed out that the meeting with the committee is considered one of the meetings that enhance communication and cooperation to discuss and discuss the challenges facing work and present ideas and the role of the Union in providing support to unions and associations in the governorates to achieve the values of social solidarity and provide operational projects adopted by the Union to support unions and charitable societies in the Kingdom.
Adibat appreciated the committee’s efforts and its follow-ups to institutions in the public and private sectors to discuss problems and challenges and cooperate to solve them with decision makers and their continuous work that is focused on the interest and service of the nation, indicating that the administrative body and staff in the union work efficiently and with high professionalism as they are motivated by an incentive system.
Dr. Adibat added that the committee promised that all observations, problems and challenges raised during the session would be followed up with stakeholders to reach solutions that meet the ambition for the success of the work process to serve the public interest.
Al-Ain Committee Chairman Issa Murad said that the committee will discuss the challenges and problems facing the workflow in the union and present ideas to provide all forms of support within the capabilities, indicating that the committee is following up on the issue of work in associations, which is considered one of the important topics, reconsidering the association work law, and helping in evaluating and following up on the work. Associations and vote on the conditions and challenges facing charitable work, and that the Union must work to create an information base system for associations and their beneficiaries to better benefit from serving local communities..
Murad indicated that the visit of the Labor and Development Committee came to discuss the role of the federation in establishing important national projects and also to support association projects to play their role in serving local communities, learning about future programs and projects, strengthening the foundations and systems of governance, and building an information base for federations and association beneficiaries to advance community work on the best basis.
He stressed that the committee seeks, through its field visits to various institutions, to review the obstacles and challenges facing work, as some observations will be monitored and coordination with the government to find new laws and legislation for associations to keep pace with developments and contribute to developing work mechanisms.
The committee members, notables and committee rapporteur Dr. Abla Amawi, Samir Bino, Engineer Khaled Ramadan, and Dr. Maysoon Al-Atoum, praised the efforts made by the temporary administrative body of the federation and the achievements that were implemented on the ground, noting that the federation is considered an umbrella for the work of federations in the governorates and the national projects it is undertaking, including the establishment of the Hussein Center. For cancer, Al Amal Centers for Special Education and Mental Disability, the Islamic Burial House, the investment projects of the Union of Associations in the governorates, and future projects that benefit society and serve the interest of the nation, in addition to its active role in providing services to local communities.
