The Jordan Charity Lottery was established in 1972 by the royal will of His Majesty the late King Hussein bin Talal, may God rest his soul, for the charitable sector under Lottery Law No. (17) of 1972, to enable the General Union of Voluntary Associations to obtain financial resources that enable it to implement its goals, programs and social work projects adopted by the General Union of Voluntary Associations in the Kingdom, in addition to providing assistance for emergency social cases, within financial capabilities based on specific principles and criteria.
In 2019, the 1972 regulation was amended to increase revenue by allowing the General Federation to issue other types of charity lotteries, such as scratch-off and electronic lotteries, and Regulation No. (161) of 2019 was issued and amended in 2023.
Charity Lottery Supervisory Committees:
The National Committee to supervise the management of the charitable lottery affairs shall be formed under the chairmanship of the Secretary-General of the Ministry, and the membership of each of the following:
1. Chairman of the Administrative Authority.
2. Secretary General of the Supreme Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
3. Secretary General of the National Council for Family Affairs.
4. Director of the Associations Support Fund.
5. Two representatives of charitable societies nominated by the Minister.
The Charity Lottery Management Committee shall be formed under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the Administrative Authority and the membership of each of the following
1. Director.
2. Treasurer of the Federation.
3. A representative of the Ministry of Interior named by its Minister.
4. A representative of the Ministry of Social Development named by its minister.
5. Two members of the administrative body named by the administrative body.
