The General Union of Charitable Societies stressed in a statement today on the occasion of the International Day of the Rights of the Child, which falls on November 20 of each year, the importance of this day to enhance national and international efforts to improve the lives of children and protect their rights in various social, educational, health and cultural fields.
The union pointed out that celebrating this day reflects the world's commitment to providing a safe environment for children where they can achieve their dreams and potential away from the challenges that may stand in their way such as harm, deprivation and poverty, and the need to join efforts to ensure that all children obtain their basic rights, including good education, health care and protection from violence and exploitation.
It also called for the importance of raising children's awareness of their rights through educational, social and cultural activities and enhancing their knowledge of their basic rights such as food, clean water and safe housing, in addition to creating safe environments for practicing sports and developing skills.
He stressed that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, has always been a model in promoting and protecting children's rights and providing a safe and secure environment that guarantees them a promising future as they are the cornerstone of building a strong and prosperous society.
He stressed that the General Federation gives disabled children the necessary attention and care through the Hope Centers for Special Education, especially with regard to expanding their integration into the educational process and into various aspects of social and recreational life, and providing them with the necessary requirements to enjoy their rights guaranteed by the Constitution and national legislation.
