Adibat reviews the services provided by the Petra Special Education Association.

The President of the General Union of Charitable Societies, Dr. Atef Odaibat, visited the Petra Special Education Association to learn about its reality and the services it provides, in the presence of a number of former representatives, representatives of associations, and local community leaders.

Odaibat stressed the Union’s keenness to advance the status of special education centers whose management was given to charitable organizations to carry out their mission towards groups of people with disabilities and to continue their work in training and rehabilitation.

He stated that the General Union has carried out maintenance work on a number of Hope Centers to create a safe environment for the beneficiaries of these centers and to continue supporting their goals to achieve their charitable, humanitarian and community mission.

He also visited a number of projects implemented by the Service and Development Association, including the Hearing and Speech Center and the Darkline Project, which employs 16 girls with special needs. He opened an exhibition of handicrafts and products and a recycling exhibition produced by people with special needs.

The president of the association, Muhammad Al-Nawafleh, explained the importance of the association, its goals, its mission, and its contribution to providing appropriate service to the local community and educating them through lectures and seminars. It is also concerned with providing service and assistance to people with mobility disabilities.

He pointed out that the association, since its founding in 1991, has worked to open special education centers within the association, where academic classes are created that teach the Ministry of Education’s curricula from kindergarten to sixth grade, and teach vocational training, mental retardation, and speech portage (early intervention program), in addition to spreading awareness. Health and social care in the local community.

He stated that the association is working to limit all forms and types of disabilities with the aim of providing possible assistance for each case, including motor devices, hearing aids, supplies, books, and school bags, and to unify the various efforts and contributions to advance the services provided to this category, employ them, and empower them.
