Adaibat sponsors the launch of the “Leave Your Mark” initiative for the Environmental Society.
The former Minister, President of the General Union of Charitable Societies, and Chairman of the Advisory and Steering Body of the Jordanian Environment Society, Dr. Atef Odaibat, sponsored today at the National Library the activities of the celebration organized by the Environment Society on the occasion of World Environment Day.
He said that World Environment Day is considered a global event with the aim of discussing all issues and developments that arise in ecosystems and biodiversity, and rehabilitating it is an essential part of it, developing appropriate solutions for their sustainable preservation, and emphasizing the necessity and importance of collective international action at all levels.
He highlighted the importance of celebrating these occasions and launching environmental initiatives that enhance awareness of the importance of the environment and keeping it clean, and in which we remember the destruction that our people in Gaza and Palestine are suffering from and the environment there that is exposed to, which has negatively affected public health and safety and changed the features of their lives.
During the celebration, Odaibat announced the launch of the National Environment Society initiative entitled “Leave Your Mark,” which comes in fulfillment of the lofty royal vision for Jordan to be a regional center for green development and provide wide areas of opportunities for investment in climate-related initiatives.
He pointed out that the initiative aims to demonstrate Jordan's role in its usual leadership in maintaining sustainable development and working to achieve the concept of a circular economy, which represents the production, consumption, use and recycling of used PET plastic containers to manufacture new environmentally friendly containers within international specifications.
Odaibat praised the Environmental Society’s pioneering role in its achievements and its shedding light on the environmental dimensions in society.
The Director General of the National Library, Dr. Nidal Al-Ayasrah, indicated that the library’s doors are open to all parties, bodies and institutions to implement and establish purposeful activities and programs and the role of the library in participating in preserving the environment through the initiative that it launched together for a more beautiful library in addition to the use of solar energy and paper recycling, praising the role it plays. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordanian Environmental Society, journalist Ali Azbi Freihat, stressed the Society’s keenness to celebrate environmental events, which is considered clear evidence of nobility and authenticity, in addition to implementing campaigns, courses, and workshops. The Society also adopted a set of general values that it worked to enhance and preserve, taking into account international environmental treaties and conventions. The authentic cultural heritage of society and the focus on the environment and keeping it safe.
He said that the celebration of World Environment Day comes to emphasize the importance of supporting vital work to restore ecosystems and promote positive practices that serve the message and goals of efforts to protect and preserve the environment.
He stated that the association, since its founding in 1988, seeks to spread environmental awareness and volunteer work in the Kingdom by all possible means and means within national laws, and to train and build the capabilities of local and regional competencies in various environmental fields, especially environmental management, studies, and regional and international cooperation to protect the environment, exchange experiences, and preserve and protect the environment.
The ceremony was attended by a number of representatives of the sectors supporting and assisting the association, members of the administrative body, Muhammad Hamad Al-Ba’ul and Faryal Al-Nazami, heads of the association’s branches, the functional staff, the executive director, Maan Nasairah, the administrative and financial director, Nancy Al-Khairy, and members of the media committee, Osama Al-Qudah, Kifah Fawaara, Marwa Al-Sammadi, and its management, a member of the women’s empowerment committee in the association. Journalist Razan Jaafar Al-Momani and the staff of the National Library presented a video about the Leave Your Mark initiative.
The association also honored the sectors, companies, and institutions supporting the initiative, the Greater Amman Municipality, the recycling project in Jordan funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Middle East Insurance Company, ECO NEST, the Bright Environment Company, the Arab Banking Corporation Bank, BANK ABC, and the East Amman Electricity Generating Station A E S. The school and college of the Shmeisani Sisters of the Rosary, gifts of appreciation, and certificates of thanks and appreciation for Dr. Udaybat, Dr. Al-Ayasrah, and Solidarity First Insurance Company, received by the director of branches, marketing, training, and strategic partnerships in the company, Dr. Ramzi Al-Ghoul.
The Ayyasrah also presented copies of the volumes of Al-Sharq Al-Arabi newspaper to Dr. Udayibat and Al-Farihat.
