Amer Al-Khawaldeh, President of the General Union of Voluntary Societies, stated that charity bazaars serve as a genuine platform for empowering charitable societies and productive families, thereby enhancing their developmental role. He emphasized the Union's commitment to supporting these initiatives, which integrate social and economic dimensions and contribute to driving local production.
Speaking while inaugurating the "South Charity Bazaar"—organized by the Aqaba Governorate Union of Voluntary Societies in collaboration with the Ma’an and Tafilah unions to mark the International Day of Charity—Al-Khawaldeh noted that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, has set a pioneering example in charitable and voluntary work. This includes supporting the less fortunate, caring for orphans, providing humanitarian aid to refugees, and launching community-driven initiatives across various governorates that reflect the spirit of national solidarity.
He highlighted that the International Day of Charity serves as an occasion to renew the call for spreading a culture of volunteerism and to commend the pivotal role charitable societies play in mitigating the impact of crises, building bridges of cooperation between communities, and supporting Sustainable Development Goals. He further noted that the bazaar is the fruit of the efforts of charitable societies and productive families, offering an opportunity to showcase their products and open marketing channels that support them while reinforcing the concepts of empowerment and sustainability. Muawad Mohammed Al-Muznah, Head of the Aqaba Union of Charitable Societies, emphasized that charitable work is fundamentally about standing by individuals and empowering them. He highlighted the importance of shifting from merely providing aid to creating opportunities, boosting productivity, and fostering self-reliance.
He stated that this bazaar is being held to mark the International Day of Charity and to strengthen partnerships and communication among the General Union, governorate unions, and charitable societies. These efforts contribute to supporting productive families and embedding a culture of giving, empowerment, and sustainability.
He expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the General Union of Charitable Societies—represented by its President, Amer Al-Khawaldeh—as well as Aqaba Governor Ayman Al-Awaisha, the Ministry of Social Development (represented by the Social Development Directorate in Aqaba), security agencies, participating unions and charitable societies, the Aqaba Port Management and Operation Company, productive families, and everyone who contributed to the event's success.
The bazaar featured participation from the unions of charitable societies in the Ma'an and Tafilah governorates, as well as the presence and participation of Zaid Al-Zaboun, Head of the Jerash Union of Charitable Societies. Numerous associations, institutions, and productive families also took part, reflecting a spirit of cooperation and synergy among unions and charitable societies across the Kingdom's governorates.
